Name: VIC Software Sprite Stack - MMX edition
Author: Robert Hurst
Released: March 4, 2010
Requirements: VIC 20 with at least 8k RAM expansion
Description: A software API to allow the programmer to implement software "sprites" for video games or simple animations. It uses most of VIC's internal RAM to provide a flicker-free experience for the double-buffered video / color playfield. Most notable implementations of this stack are Berzerk MMX, Omega Fury, and Quikman+.

This latest edition incorporates sprite "ghost" rendering (XOR without coloring) and collision detection -- both are feature selectable per sprite. It includes updated documentation (PDF), ca65 primer with samples, fixed binaries with symbol maps to allow for inclusion with BASIC, C, or other assemblers.

Download:
The zip archive can be downloaded here.

Discuss its development here.

d81 disk and batch file for easy program launch

To reassure your soul, copy and unzip file to your VICE main directory, then double-click on bible1.cmd. Otherwise, expand your VIC to 24K, set the true drive emulation, the disk drive 8 as a 1581, then type LOAD"*",8. Wait for the program to load, then follow directions on the screen.
