pixel wrote: Thu Mar 23, 2023 3:04 am I love this thing, except for lacking contrast. Grey on grey can do visually impaired people's head in. Looking forward to the next draft.
EDIT for clarity:

The project started with the intention of being full color. This changed for several reasons:

1. Price. The price is more than 50% higher for full color.

2. My own visual limitations (color blind)

I made a lot of changes for the next draft and believe i have found a solution to satisfy these requests.

This new draft attempts to resolve the requests for color. I just moved the color requested pages to the interior cover. This draft also features dozens of tweaks like a new cover, etc.

New draft: Version 0.8 PDF

This is looking really good.

Do you have any space for a couple of diagrams? I've made some that summarize what the VIAs are used for.

Thanks! These are great! I'm now stuck with a fixed page count of 128, so I will try to move a few things around and may have to shrink them a whole lot. Early drafts had some of this info, but it somehow was merged with the memory map.

You can save some space in the memory map on page 61 by making the entry for 37136-37151 just a one line summary (like it is for VIA2).
There's also a mistake in this section, VIA2 starts at $9120 so that row on line needs to go down one row.

I have been compressing information and making space where I can. I am experimenting with the idea of adding your information to the memory maps (along with other info I gathered from books). See the example pages here: Version 0.8 test page 65 PDF

What do you think?

I think that having the info split between the ports and the IFR means it's not so easy to find where a specific line is connected to. I find these entries rather 'wordy', if I wanted details about the values going into various parts of the ACR (for example), I'd probably refer to the 6522 datasheet anyway.

Good suggestions. I can see your points. I made a mock page with the original image as well. I had to crop and reconfigure it to fit.
Something like this: page 118 (although the resolution of the image did not scale very well)

That doesn't look too bad I can give you an SVG file instead so you can resize without artefacts.

Considering visual continuity with other pages, I made a table. How does this look to you? page 119
