Apparently the hard-core Atari-collectors really wanted it.

I think that it was a collector from AtariAge who won. In a thread over there they explain why it is so desirable. None of the collectors had even seen the box for it before this auction. That said, it still went for a ridiculous amount of money me thinks...

And it's only one of the most expensive games... Compared to these, Ultima: Escape from Mt. Drash is cheap :wink: .

In the end it came down to a fight between two collectors, and Jose won as usual :lol:

Mind you, I COULD have beaten him, given I have my redundancy payment forthcoming, but that wouldn't have been fair... and I would have needed a new job fairly quickly to cover the shortfall :P

Regards the Mount Drash article on Wiki, I note that whoever did it has reworded essentially parts of my Retro Gamer article heh...
