Re: Vic 20 user port at no more than 1200 baud?

[...] I loaded it first with 32k ram (,8 + run right?), [...] Not quite so. You need to load the wedge absolute, with ",8,1" and then start it with SYS40960 . Indeed RAM in BLK5 is necessary. After that, it's also necessary to reinit pointers of BASIC with NEW , so you won't get any ?OUT ...

Re: Capture 6560 Data From Cart Port

I will explain why I want to do such a nonsensical project later, but here are a few of my basic goals... - The VIC-20 must remain completely untouched internally. [...] Some years ago, in 2010, I went to violate exactly that rule to remove some restrictions on the VIC-20 mainboard, which happened ...

Re: Capture 6560 Data From Cart Port

I'm sorry to say that you're on the wrong track with this one - the '245 buffers disconnect CPU- and VIC-side of the busses during VIC fetches. :(

Re: Vic 20 user port at no more than 1200 baud?

The RS232 routines of the VIC-20 KERNAL don't work reliably with more than 1200 baud, and also have their share with other bugs (for example, the hardware handshake is broken). However, lately, srowe developed a wedge which fixes the errors of the original code, and which should also work at 2400 ba...

Re: Maxigrafik

I took a quick peek at the manuals for download at DLH/Bombjack and indeed I am puzzled: neither is there any mention of the "length;angle"-syntax, nor (what we hadn't discussed thus far) of relative co-ordinates, where an explicit "+" or "-" precedes the value, and wh...

Re: Maxigrafik

Warning. Longer post. I have many manuals for Plus / 4 ... and Vic20 downloaded in pdf. [...] The remarkable thing is that all these variants and others which I found [are] not described. O.K. - I took a quick peek at the manuals for download at DLH/Bombjack and indeed I am puzzled: neither is there...

Re: Maxigrafik

Hi, Armando, the kind of programs you put into the *.doc file actually confirm my presumptions. I can tell you it's entirely possible to port these all over to MINIGRAFIK (and for that matter, MAXIGRAFIK) by taking into account the different resolutions and pixel aspect ratios. But first, let me com...

Re: Maxigrafik

One of the problems with some conversions This is due to the fact that the graphical commands are available are very limited in use options. I'm lost on that one. What do you expect? A pixel plot is specified by a co-ordinate pair and colour source. A line plot needs two co-ordinate pairs and a col...

Re: Maxigrafik

One of the problems with some conversions This is due to the fact that the graphical commands are available are very limited in use options. MINIGRAFIK implements a mini mal set of graphic s commands on purpose . I aimed to include all really necessary and indispensable commands. A programm that us...

Re: loss of program lines

O.K. - I had a quick peek. The program as is looks unsuspecting for sure. However, you should be wary if you go to extend it: of the long variable names, BASIC V2 only uses the first two characters to differentiate them ( CO LUMN and CO ST, for example, are the same). Any assignment to one of these ...

Re: loss of program lines

That's more likely a stray POKE into zeropage, or into the address range occupied by the BASIC program, which corrupts the data structures. When the internal RAM is defective, the VIC-20 doesn't start up at all (you only get the white background with cyan border without the start-up prompt), if an e...

Re: Just got a VIC20, now what? :)

Grid runner shows me that this system can perform just as strong as the c64 given the right circumstances. VIC-20 and C64 use (nearly) the same CPU, (nearly) the same BASIC and can use (nearly) the same peripherals on the IEC bus and user port. That's about where the similarities end. The C64 still...

Re: Maxigrafik

If you look into the various threads here in Denial where I posted examples for MINIGRAFIK, I usually followed up "teaser" pictures with the programs that produced those screens. Unless those pictures were the result of manual work in MINIPAINT, and obviously no such program existed (I'd t...
