Re: Formula V20 '85
Clever use of hires makes for very attractive player car. Certainly miles better looking than the cars in C64 Pole Position. Also very cute multi color horizon graphics (just noticed the Tyrannosaurs too) and lovely colour schemes on all the screens. But the real icing on the cake is the PP-like int...

Re: A tribute to Micro-Antics and preserving all their titles
Chariot Race always seemed like a very intriguing game to me. The subject and the graphics were different to other Vic 20 games, especially the unexpanded ones. I remember it being on display behind a glass case in the large bookstore in my Swedish hometown in 1984. I tried to persuade a classmate t...

I, too, have just briefly played PoP on the Amiga and it didn't really click with me. But as I hold Jordan Mechner's other games in very high regard, I have always thought I should return to it one day. This might be the perfect opportunity as everything is more fun on the Vic :D Thank you and congr...

Re: Reverse Engineering of JETPAC for VIC-20
I applaud this! I love Vic 20 Jetpac. Few Vic games at the time impressed me as much and it is great to learn just how the flying routine managed to produce such a great feeling and perfect responsiveness.
Thank you for a tremendous contribution to the knowledge of old games!

Re: FREAX (and some other new bits)
Well, that's certainly fast, smooth and playable :) If you just add SFX and a mothership, it would already be one of the top Space Invaders clones on the Vic. But as there already are some great Invaders clones for the Vic, why not add more of your own little twists to the formula? There is potentia...

Re: Survivor RUN
If this game had been released and I had played it back in 83-84, I'd have been very impressed and probably ranked it equal to Choplifter in wow-factor. But unlike Choplifter, I don't think I'd have enjoyed it. It is just much too hard. It is incredibly difficult to burn your way through the floors....

Ah! The circles make you invincible for a time. I didn't notice until today when I watched necronom's video (plenty more on his channel!). Level one and two should be much easier now

Re: Documenting the unreleased/cancelled/prototype video game "Ice Palace"
The second level is completely different from the first. At its core it has sound mechanics but the implementation leaves much room for improvement. It is incredibly frustrating – it’s like the random generator is having a laugh at you all the time. It is possible to play forever and rack up crazy ...

Re: Verbix by Fabrizio-Caruso
Yes, each session is very long. Too long in my opinion as you only have one life and when you have a streak of bad luck with the letters, it can suddenly end very fast after a slow long, and not very challenging round. I was just now up to 418 p very comfortably and thought I would break my personal...

Dusk mode is great
It truly captures the sensation of running with a headlamp in nature at night. It's like you're carrying civilization with you, making you feel secure in the midst of the unknown.

Love the block pushing. In my opinion, all platform games benefit from at least one block to push! And the game as a whole looks great. Very pleasant colors and, as in all your games, the animation is very expressive and stylish.

Thanks all! I got it to work in GTK Vice now. The pull-down menu where you select "generic" cartridge type has somehow eluded my eyes.
Seems like a very high-quality game and a lovely addition to the Vic 20 game library

Re: Documenting the unreleased/cancelled/prototype video game "Ice Palace"
This looks wonderful and is an even earlier example of "reverse Tetris" than the UK Vic 20 game Bricks by Ian Sutherland which I thought was the first example of the genre. I'd love to try it but I don't know how to get a .bin-file to work in Vice.

Re: New Game: FiZZ for Vic20 (35Kb)
Thanks! A video is great. I am reluctant to cheat, however, so I'll try to use it just to study the levels I have already completed and thus hopefully learn the rules better from other solutions than my own (which sometimes seemed more due to luck than to skill...)

Re: New Game: FiZZ for Vic20 (35Kb)
I solved level 9 but now I am stuck on level 12  There are so many new elements introduced in these levels that I have not really come to grips with all aspects of their mechanics yet. But I do appreciate the text hints that are specific to each level! They are a nice touch and allow for a ...
