Release: DirPlus V4.1.1
Author: Boray (Anders Persson)
Released: 1st January 2021
Genre: Program starter / File Manager
Requirements: Unexpanded VIC-20. Recommended: Fully expanded Vic-20. (Also works on C64 and Plus/4)
Description:
DIRPLUS is a SD2IEC file browser, program starter and file manager solution for your Commodore 8 bit home computer.
This is an update only affecting the Vic-20. The routine to detect and locate sjload in memory was moved from basic to machine language and now works 100 times better. (It now makes a checksum from all bytes in question instead of only 1/100 of them).
You can also remove sjload from memory at startup by holding down the Shift key while DirPlus is loading/starting. Holding down Shift will in other words show you the start menu even if sjload previously was loaded. This way you can more easily disable or change the position of sjload.
After 25 years I dug up my VIC from the basement to teach my kids about programming. After that I just kept going for a while, and a small game of Yatzy was implemented.
After teaching the kids about the art of swapping (I was never much of a coder, but I spent many hours duplicating cassettes), they helped me finish a cassette cover. My son misspelled the name when doing the cover art, so we re-branded the game to the somewhat unique title "Yatzee".
We have a small number of physical cassettes, and we would love to send them to someone like in the good old days. If you send us a postcard, we'll send you a cassette back. PM me for the postal address.

I thought I'd post this commercial release here, since it is a very interesting and complex game. Also it is one of the few games to require a 35K-expansion and the boxed-version also comes with a userport-adapter that allows to connect a SNES-gamepad which is made full use of, shoulder-buttons and start/select-buttons included. Keyboard control is available as well.

Name: TypeFile, TypeWriter (using 64text) Released: March 2021 Author: Aleksi Eeben Requirements: VIC 20 with 8K expansion or more
Almost 2 years ago, I wrote quick 64x32 text (and plotting) routines for use in VIC 20 port of the PLATO terminal. The author has been busy with other projects, so VIC 20 version of PLATO has not materialized yet.
I wanted to use the text routines for something, so here's a simple ASCII text file displayer for VIC 20 with memory expansion of at least 8K. Full 7-bit ASCII is defined. Text is not buffered, so you can't scroll up. The characters are minuscule, but almost readable

typewriter.prg is another small program that just reads the keyboard and outputs text to the 64x32 character screen.
