TheVic20 memory expansion ?

Post by Mikam73 »

How I get memory expansion for TheVic20?

It’s same problem with TheC64 model.

There was one www page where you could create those configuration files. I made some but those didn’t work.

Then one YouTube had D64 files that could be downloaded.
Those did get extra memory. But when you download tap or D64 file you lose memory expansion..

Valid rule today as earlier: 1 Byte = 8 Bits
-._/classes instead of masses\_.-

First of all, the VIC-20 does not have any "banks". What they call "banks" in that website, are actually the 8 KB memory block signals present at the expansion port.

That being said,
  • a +3K RAM expansion has "bank 0" set,
  • a +8K RAM expansion has "bank 1" set and
  • a +16K RAM expansion has "bank 1" and "bank 2" set.
"bank 0" are actually the /RAM1, /RAM2 and /RAM3 signals on the expansion port that decode single 1 KB address ranges within $0400..$0FFF.
