Where to buy a generic 9VAC power supply?

Post by Kalle »

Hi!

I have an older Vic 20 with the 2 pin connector (see image) and I am looking to buy a new transformator (power supply).

Does anyone know if there is a adapter for this connector out there? I have found some links, but they are all out of stock.

I used to power my vic with an old C64 power supply, I have drilled a hole in the case and soldered some cables on the back side of the connector (this was +25 years ago, don’t give me a hard time about it).

Since I already have a hole and a cable, any 9 VAC power source would do, but I cannot find anyone with sufficient power.

I have one that can do 2.2A (20VA), but is this enough? The label on the Vic says 25 watt.

It seems difficult to find one with 3A or more as an appliance, I have only seen naked transformators for building into stuff.

Any advice?

I ended up build a PSU from scratch, as long as it is properly enclosed and the live terminals are insulated it should be ok.
