That's not a bad idea. I've got a BBC Master 128 on my desk at the moment and it's not coming off any time soon. TheVIC-20 can wear a Christmas hat and a reindeer jumper.

Anyone in the UK willing to buy one for me and post it on to me in Australia?

I'll cover all costs...

Cheers,

Mike.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. It looks terrific, particularly with the PET style keys! But I haven't had a chance to play with it yet. :(

Received mine today at 2pm and fired it up.

I am delighted to report it is very good and worth it as a first impression.

The keys are ok but it is a little odd seeing the PET font on the modern shape key. It leads you to expect the heaviness and PET clack but they lack a bit of the weight and sound similar to the C64 or later Vic20 keys.

The joystick is much improved micro switch over the C64 Mini one I had previously.

The UI is a little odd when configuring with the joystick buttons - it had me pressing button 1 then 4 then Fire for similar enter type operations.

The Carousel is great booting up to Annihalator by Llamasoft first in the Queue.

The only annoying thing so far is the Carousel theme music is from the C64 and not a good ole Vic20 tune.

So far - very good. More after work ;-)

Lots of fun with TheVic20 this evening

29 Vic20 games mostly from Llamasoft, Imagine, Arctic and Pixel and 36 C64 Games on the Carousel.

If you want to play some 8k, 16k or more games then create a text file on a memory stick in your games expanded directory called: thec64-default.cjm with the following contents:

X:vic,pal,fullheight,35k
J:1*:JU,JD,JL,JR,JF,JF

This worked for me with a directory of D64 files e.g. the Miklos trained collection.

Manual for TheC64 (same as TheVic20) with more configuration switches.
https://retrogames.biz/thec64/support/manuals-thec64

For single file cartridges name them .crt e.g. Gorf.crt but also add _MVTP for Machine Vic20 Type Pal etc.

Multipart cartridges need to be loaded from Vic20 Basic and then use the loading interface and load part 1 first then part .a0 second and it should start (not tried this yet)
