anyone have working mp3 or wav files for use with mp32c64

Post by llcameron »

I recently acquired an mp32c64 from eBay. This unit allows you to play mp3 files recorded in the VIC/64 audio encoding scheme straight into you VIC via a datasette emulation. It looks really neat and I want to try it out!

The problem is I don't have any mp3 files for use with it! I'm familiar with the WAV-PRG and converting .tap to mp3 but have never had much luck with it in the past. I would like to get an mp3 that is known working.

Does anyone have a working mp3 file that they have used to playback into a datasette emulator such as the mp32c64 (or some other method) that you could share with me? Thanks in advance!

I thought using MP3 files were bad for that because of the compression.

Would you not want to use standard WAV files?

You're probaby correct. But I ended up converting "antimatter splatter" to a wav file with Audiotap and using the mp32c64 to play it back into the datasette port and it worked!

Unfortunately the save didn't not result in a working file I could play back so not sure what is happening with that. Project for another day.

But for the time being I am declaring a great success :)
