Someone called smile_soccer :-) wrote to that group in April 2004 about the Denial forum.

Cool. Now I'm part of three VIC-20 user groups on Yahoo Groups, all rather independent of eachother. Two of them appear to be dead when it comes to activity, and the third one seems to just have awoken from a long period of coma.

That "smile_soccer" dude is a real character, always raising hell in forums all over the place...think he has a Vic-20 mental addiction or something

What you think there Chris

Seems like this guy is an Vic-20 enthusiast (or an enthusiast that just wants to use a source of roms from any system to get his system going more likely) from that board. and I see he's posted on comp sys cbm as well:

Seems like our yahoo enthusiast was here at Denial but thinks we're (it's) missing something:

"What it's missing - and what I'm missing - is a copy of Secret of Bastow
Manor. This was a text adventure that ran on unexpanded VIC; a 4-part
multiload if I recall correctly.

I know there is a C64 version, but it is not the same.

It was actually impossible to complete the VIC-20 version without modifying
the program a little, due to a bug in part 3 or 4."

Guess we can't have everything :?

The recent ativity is my fault!

Post by rexxrektal »

Hey folks!

Recently, I have been overhauling my technical expertise, and part of it is to revisit my ancient knowledge. Unfortunately, this sparked a renewed interest in Commodore computers, as well as a few other machines.

I am a previously burned out network systems engineer, and I have reassembled my brain to function on a technical level again. Well, the knowledge started here, with the Vic, and the Timex Sinclair 1000.

At least one thing is good, the Vic and 64 are considered a quaint nostalgic trip, and people see it as cool, as opposed to me being a loon that still works with the old stuff.

Now I have a working Vic 20, SX64, and a 128. I am writing some new programs, which when finished should provide some entertainment for this (and the other) groups. I also have the 64HDD, and I will let you know how it works.

Anyway, I am here, and I will be happy keeping these systems functioning for nostalgic and practical reasons! I am having fun, and it is nice my brain is working again!

Talk to you later!

Welcome to the board rexxrektal :D

Looking forward to your programs and input into forum discussions.

I think a lot of us are re-visiting our past passion for the Vic-20 here and you'll fit in fine. I know I always felt that I never took the Vic-20 to it's full potential back in 1982 and seek to explore what it has to offer now!
