I had some PCBs made up and built a unit. Here is it running with the Scott Adams adventure "Pirates Cove". There are still a few mispronunciations, they'll be fixed by flashing the AVR with new rules.

I've had some enquiries from people who would like a vicVOICE. I'd like to gauge interest so I can order parts in suitable quantities.
I can offer a range of options, a bare PCB, a kit of parts (with/without speech chip) or a built unit.

I am also interested in an assembled ready-to-use vicVOICE.

OK, I've ordered sufficient parts to build units people have expressed an interest in. They will cost £22 / €25 / $28 each plus postage.
I will have some time this week to build them, I'll then get in touch to arrange payment, shipping etc.

Srowe, I finally could reach my aunt's shop, and get the packet. I play tested the card with all Scott Adams adventures, and I must say it plays very nicely. The sound is strong and clear, and there's no background noise. For anyone interested, here's a short video with Pirate Cove start screen (17 Mb, please pump up the volume because I was taking it far from the TV). Only problem is, I have to use original cartridges, because it won't work with the SA adventures stored in the Mega-Cart. It only outputs garbage, saying random letters and numbers.

I'll experiment more later. Til then, thanks so much again for this. I just LOVE speech synths :).

Glad you received it safely and are pleased with it. The source code and schematics are available here:

I still have a few PCBs remaining, if any other Denialers would like one drop me a line before I post to Lemon.

Mine worked perfectly with Scott Adams Adventureland on the Behr Bonz. Highly recommended.

Resurrecting this thread to say a big thank you to Simon Rowe for this project.

I finally got round to building it yesterday and it worked first time with a cool "System Ready" message at power on.

This is a great recreation of the Votrax Type 'N' Talk and works very well with the Scott Adams' Adventures.

This was out of reach for me in the 1980s but was able to be recreated for a price of a few beers or coffees.

There is one for sale currently at £400.

Ouch, at least you get a VIC-1011A thrown in.

Resurrecting this post as the MegaCart is back in production - Does anyone know why does the MegaCart version of Scott Adams adventures not output the correct speech but Behr Bonz does?

Can the MegaCart be reprogrammed to fix this?

I am absolutely loving this! I've waited sooooo long to hear Adventureland. This hardware is amazing.
