Ah. That tread gave some useful insight. I then visited the sellers eBay store and found a opto output board from the same maker which is probably what this adapter plugs into:

All from the same "Simple Interface System".

I seem to recall a C64 cart adapter which allowed you to connect a 16K VIC-20 RAM cart. You would load up dumped C64 cartridge images into it and it could play them...
