Any suggestions of Modern Original VIC Games for the next round in April? There's quite a few to choose from out of the software released in Announcements...

I will be busy next month but I will try to fit in some VIC-gaming nevertheless. I don't mind a RPG at all but I will not be able to delve very deep into it :(

It's a micro rpg if that helps. Easier modes can be beaten in 5 to 20 minutes.

Other good suggestions that i'very enjoyed are...

Super starship space attack.
Demons of dex.
Pulse.
Serpant caves
Pentograt
Jeff 20 did anot update of game theory a little while back that I really enjoyed.

I'v got a little vacation time coming up, i'my down for anything.

Sounds good.

That would be a time saver as I have already finished it! It certainly deserves all the attention it can get.

Everyone, thank you for the suggestions! Based on your input we've got a round of Modern Dungeon Crawlers to play this month, but we still need suggestions for next month's game(s) for "Modern Ports/Clones."

I found a frogger clone in the sd2iec collection that I really enjoy called the princess and the frog,

I seem to remember a couple of minesweep ports that were pretty good.

Doom should deffinately be mentioned bit I don't have a full copy.

Some of the best VIC-games are modern ports of classic games.

Popeye is terrific, but I have already played it a lot so it wouldn't be first on my list.

Frogger '07 and Pitfall are also amazing and I wouldn't mind playing either of them. Frogger is well suited for score competition and can perhaps attract a wider crowd. I have never played Pitfall seriously but I guess it is very challenging and I would be surprised if anyone would come even close to complete it - but it certainly deserves the spotlight.

I am not much of a Minesweeper or Doom player, but I did play litody's Minesweeper and enjoyed it much more than I ever did on PC.

Then there are Berzerk MMX and Quikman! I always liked Amok but haven't really played Berzerk.

Would be great to have input from someone else. Else, I suggest akator picks the game he wants to play :)

These are the "modern ports and clones" on my personal shortlist. I'm certain there are some excellent games missing from this list that have simply slipped my mind :D

2007 Frogger 07
2008 Quikman
2008 Tetris
2009 Moon Patrol
2010 Berzerk MMX / MMX+ <--- my favorite choice for this round
2010 Breakout
2013 Pitfall
2013 Pooyan
2014 Viccy Bird
2015 Popeye
2016 Dropout (Tetris)

Berzerk is my personal pick for this round. The arcade original was amazing. The 2600 version is one of the best arcade conversions on that system, if not one of the best 2600 games in the entire library. Robert Hurst's version for the VIC-20 is stunning.

For the future round of modern originals, I nominate all 4 versions of Jeff's Game Theory.

How about Omega Fury and Pulse?

Pulse is definitely a "modern original," so I've added your nomination for that round.

As a "sequel" to Omega Race, should Omega Fury be considered a "modern original" or a "modern port or clone" ?

If Omega Race did not exist on VIC, I would have classified Omega Fury as a modern port or clone. But as it is, Omega Fury is different enough to be considered a modern orignal?

Since Robert Hurst envisioned Omega Fury as a sequel, what if for round No. 6 (in June, which should be classic arcade ports), we do a "mixed" round with Omega Race (classic arcade port) with Omega Fury (modern original)?

That is, if there is agreement. Gorf currently has the most nominations for the next classic arcade round.
