The Perils of Willy partially working

The Perils of Willy from http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/ ... 0Willy.prg works on emulator, but has been modified to give an extra life too often, every time a note is collected. I confirmed on my real Vic and real cassette loaded game, which only gives an extra life at 5000 and 15000 points, and then presumably 25000 (which I haven't checked).
The .prg at zimmers.net doesn't work correctly on a real Vic, the game plays but the score display is corrupted (anything other than 00000 is wrong) and the music doesn't play.
Is there a version anywhere which works correctly on a real Vic20?

I had same problem. First I thought that my 16k memory is broken and I realised that music and score work fine if you use 32k extra memory.

Let me know if you find prg.

Myriad from zimmers also suffers from this problem. The score is corrupted from the start.

Looking at youtube-videos from this game, all seem to give extra life for every note collected, interesting. I'd also be very interested in a correct version of this game!

Hello, been lurking on this forum for many years.... etc etc...

Maybe I could buy a copy from Ebay and image it ???

Does that sound like a plan? :?:

Bought said copy, which says it is in good working order..

If anyone could point me towards the correct software to image this tape when it comes would be a great help.

I imagine that I should first sample it exactly the same way as a Sinclair ZX81 tape.. in mono basically?

Then run the sample through a program to create a .tap file possibly?

Any help would be gratefully received :D

Yes please!
See here, for example:
http://wav-prg.sourceforge.net/

Of note is that the corrupted version is a single .PRG.
The original program may be multiload (several PRGs on the tape).
For archival purposes the .tap would be preferable.
For emulation purposes, if the game was a single PRG, providing the PRG makes things easier (some emulators only work with PRGs).

Welcome to the forums!

Is the TAP not on Arma or in GB20 then?

Looked at both... it's in neither as a tap.. just in GB20 as a prg.

Although I have found it as a .D64 in the UnRenamed collection I have

Hope it's ok to post it here...

Yey, this one seems to work as expected! :D With this tap-file you do NOT get the extra life for every note collected!
(the first d64-file you attached, however had the same issue as the previous ones, i.e. extra lefe for every note collected)

So, maybe this tap-file should be added as some sort of official version of "The Perils of Willy"?

Thats good to hear... any news about Myriad? Does the .TAP I posted cure the corrupted score that was mentioned by vicist?

I was just mentioning Myriad to highlight that more than one multiload to .prg suffers from some sort of corruption.
I have +3k and +8k versions of the game already, but thanks for the effort of finding a non-corrupt version.
