Don't get me wrong, it's fine to be nostalgic every once in awhile but when you're familiar with newer, inexpensive digital scopes and use them frequently, you tend to find old analog scopes just cumbersome.
sure you do - because you are doing non beginner stuff with it.
Yes...yes... that's why you shoved aside my example concerning modern PCs and HD TVs...

no, i did that because it doesnt make a lot of sense. someone who upgrades from a CRT to HDTV can immediately use it and enjoy the benefits. however, as said before, thats not quite the case for a beginner starting to use a scope. there is little to no benefit for him that all those advanced features exists, and he wouldnt be able to use them either.

Someone who upgrades from an old analog scope to a digital one can immediately use it and enjoy the benefits. Especially beginners.

More sophisticated doesn't mean more complicated.

ok, if you say so. beginners will be all over pre-trigger events, tv syncing, and printing screens. you are right.

So that's a "no" on the LM1881, groepy?

The best I can do is ham and eggs, but you'll have to come here.

If the breakfast also includes toast with apricot marmalade, orange juice, baked beans, sausage and spam, I'm all in.

I'll reciprocate with Weißwurst, Brezen, süß-saurem Senf and a Helles. ;)

If you also offer Sauerbraten I might move in permanently! Then I'd go visit Horst Luening and stock up on the essentials...

Well, I guess that's an advantage of a DSO, there's less to eat. I don't think you'd make your way through my Tektronix 547. Maybe if I took out the plugin?

Well, you're in luck! That just requires a short trip to my other base in Cologne. You know though, that Echter Rheinischer Sauerbraten is made from horse meat? ;)

Here in Bavaria, Horst Lüning lives just around the corner. We could take a Lagavulin 16 as provision for the journey to the Rhineland, after taking a thorough look at his other enterprises. 8)

Not a fan of the Lag anymore. Laphroaig, Caol Ila, some of the Ben Riach.

I'd eat half your city's supply of curry wurst, I'd be dead in a week!
