VIC-20 JiffyDOS installation (DC area)

I've got an older (two-prong, silver label) NTSC VIC-20 and a brand new JiffyDOS chip. While taking the case apart to pop the chip in, I learned two things:

1) those 35-year old plastic hooks on the back of the case are quite brittle
2) the ROM chip I need to replace is not socketed

Not having the required tools or experience, I'm looking for some help. Is there anyone in the Northern Virginia or Greater Washington DC Metro area who would be willing to help out?

I suggest you remove the mainboard from the case to save on postage and reduce the chance of damaging the keyboard.

Not to my knowledge.

Ray Carlsen does all the socket work on my Commodore computers.

I am not in the DC area
but I do sell Jiffydos and do system repairs
and I offer a free Jiffydos intall to people that purchase Jiffydos from me
you just pay the shipping costs

but hopefully someone close to you will offer to install a socket, it is a very easy thing to do
