Here is the final version (unless bugs are found) of Serpent Caves - Retro Edition.

Unexpanded VIC-20 with Keyboard Play

although work is continuing on the main Serpent Caves project, I decided to release the original monochrome green, petscii graphics game. It has had some tweaking from it's original released draft version:-

- Now only 9 levels to complete the game
- 3 serpents on level 1
- 3 hit points to begin with
- some minor graphical changes
- the difficulty curve has been adjusted so that levels 7,8,and 9 should provide a real challenge.

Died on Level 7 when a Serpent slithered out of the darkness.... had 28 diamonds at that time....

Never played this type of game before.
The snakes appeared from nowhere and I just tried to keep away from them.

Like I said, pure luck.

That's the general idea - survive, collect as many diamonds as possible - simple is best

Must've been. I still haven't won this one yet .

Here is an alternate version - Color scheme is green on white and gives you a score when you die - this versions has seven serpents on every level, but the serpents on the final levels are more dangerous than in the original game.

This is my own custom version that I play on my Android tablet.
