Minor update: Disruption mode (multiple balls) has been fixed.

Minor Sunday update: disruption mode doesn't spread the balls anymore, so some endless loops have gone away. Also it won't drop bonuses that are active already. Guess I'll relax for the rest of the day like this: ;)

The Vaus/ball reflections and overall directions balls are taking are a bit more like the arcade version now. Will now do the same you're probably doing at the moment: head out and grab something cool and sparkling... 8)

Very, very good news now: flicker has been removed (especially noticeable on NTSC systems). The middle of an enlarged Vaus still flickers for some other reason. Could have happened years ago…

Code: Select all

    hit_head_on_desk_num_times (2017 - 2014);

Just tested it on VICE - no title screen or intro music?

Didn't want to get into trouble with memory once more. The title screen would go into the turbo loader and there're still graphics/animations for the round intro missing. Also wanted to keep things snappy for repeated testing.

There's been a bunch of updates not posted here but here comes the great disappointment: the floating obstacles are on their way (new code for sprites of varying sizes) – now you can see it flicker and stutter although the game logic is still in tune. :( Am having a hard time explaining the flicker really.

The idea to make this for +35K machines only and use compiled sprites is very, very tempting. :(

New sprite code does a good job. Flicker is gone on both PAL and NTSC sets.

Sounds good. Will check out on real hw.later..

Must be getting towards completion. Are you going to sell tape copies? Perhaps you can get away with it small scale as not using the original name?

Yes. That would be awesome. Can't wait myself. Am not working on anything else VIC-related – perhaps I'll pixel a couple of SMB tiles just to relax.

Sure as hell I will.

Did you think about a 'wizard of WOR' conversion ? 40 years after it appeared on the VIC20 box ?

No one picked up the gauntlet so far though

Nice. That one crossed my mind many times but it's not for me.

Arukanoido still needs lots of things to be done. Bank Of Grandma wants to kick start tapesondemand – plus another life & death issue in the family I need to take care of – that's just enough for now.

Got a mention in issue 170 of Retro Gamer (along with a link to this thread, so hi to all the RG readers!)
