VIC 20 Logo font
Can anyone suggest a font that closely matches the VIC 20 logo? I want to replace that blurry Denial logo in the upper left hand corner of this forum.

Re: VIC 20 Logo font
Maybe not a font, but during the transition of the forum I proposed this renewed version, which also gets the perspective right:
I can still change the background colour, add a caption in front of it (or below) and resize it and it will remain sharp.

At first, I waited if you'd write something else as response.
Jeff, your use of the new logo is exactly not what I had intended. You *again* resized it from a version that had been _sized_ to example dimensions from a master version. And you replaced the light blue background by white, where I wanted to use the grey gradation of the headline banner, which now leaves light blue edges around the letters.
As a result, you turned my design into a mush that's not any better than the logo before.
Re: VIC 20 Logo font
You could possibly use transparent as the background.

Re: VIC 20 Logo font
I've already submitted the page to web design contests with your name credited as designer.
Hahaha. Ok, I knew I should have said something when I changed it. That was a temporary solution enacted as I corrected the link to the home page (I made a mess of it on my chromebook and somehow resized it). I actually planned to put a full banner like other phpbbs. Something like videogamecritic.com. I just didn't have time to figure out how to do it yet.
Your bold font admonishment made me feel Brazilian!
I'm actually happy with your disappointment. I have no design ideas and would welcome a community collaboration on what the banner should be.

Those logos are fantastic. Creative Common licensed for non-commercial use, or are these property for Denial exclusive use? Just wondering.
I like it when I disappoint peeps too, it means they care and want more from you. Especially Mike, it's my guilty pleasure.

Oh, surely Creative Common licensed for non-commercial use. I like the collage idea, but I have very poor image working experience. Right now I'm trying to create print-worthy images to replace some damaged Atari 2600 labels, but it's more difficult than I expected.
Oh, and you're right. You know you're working on something good when Mike scolds you.

Re: VIC 20 Logo font
There is a label maker at AtariAge to design custom labels.
And if you contact Albert, I believe you can get professional quality die-cut labels that aren't very expensive.

Yes, I love the label maker. I've been looking into a label printing service, but my computer doesn't have enough ram to work with their template files!
I really should do something about this site soon too before I embarrass away more of you guys. I'm just really bad with images. I can't even see the colors Mike is talking about. Remember, I don't see color. Groan. Working on it. At least the link is finally fixed. Haha

Re: VIC 20 Logo font
I've been looking @ dafont.com and this is the closest I've found
The font for the "VI" and the "20" is "Gobold", to be exact "Gobold Lowplus" and the C= logo is the "Commodore 64" font. Both fonts have all the chars needed in hollow versions. Maybe someone more experienced can find a better match, I'm not very good at drawing...
edit: yesterday I thought it looked like the font in the logo, but just now I think it's too thin...

Thanks! I really hope I find time to replace that logo soon with a full banner. I think I may have started a boycott of the forum.

Gobold Bold with some horizontal stretch is closer:
But using WhatTheFont, Eurostile Condensed Bold is closer still:
It's not perfect: the tops of the numbers aren't as squared off and the center of the V is cut down slightly deeper, I think.
Here's a Denial logo with a gray gradient that hopefully matches the forum:
And a button scaled to 109 pixels high:
In context:

Re: VIC 20 Logo font
This is great! I had to modify it a bit because the software insists on a GIF 170 by 94. There seems to be a slight gradient nearing the bottom of the banner. I like it, even though I kinda screwed up the bottom text.

Re: VIC 20 Logo font
Ah, I see...
In Firefox at 100% zoom, the banner image is zoomed in one step. If you zoom out once, it's 170x94. Ugh.
In Chrome at 100% zoom, the image is 170x94.
Does it have to be a GIF, or will a PNG do? PNG is better - I can make it transparent with alpha.
