*SOLD OUT* 32k RAM expansions for the VIC-20 - 25$ each

Post by eslapion »

That says it all.

Just be aware these don't come with a plastic case and they are unfortunately not physically compatible with the plastic cases of old VIC carts.

Boards are 5.8 x 9 cm. with a single read-write/read-only switch and reset button. Weights 20 grams. Professionnal quality circuit boards with gold plated edge connectors.

Shipping to the U.S. is 10$, rest of the world is 11$.

Save on shipping by ordering up to 4 expansions.

Perfect for playing Realms of Quest and other 24k/32k games.

If I wasn't already in the queue for a Mega Cart, I'd probably have had one.

These expansions are probably worth buying if you only recently ordered an MC. It can be quite a long wait (up to a year for some people) for MC orders to be fulfilled.

I own two MCs. The first one took about three months and that was back in 2009. My second MC was ordered at the beginning of this year and arrived in August.

Thanks English Invader. 6502Dude contacted me regarding when I ordered my MC. Pretty sure it was April or May.
Although it would be good to have 32K instead of 16K, until my MC arrives I'll use VICE for anything that needs more than 16K.
Thanks for the tip though.

I am potentially interrested in this as a quick solution to my memory problems. can such a device be used to load 8k and 16k game?

Also, where is link to more info, or ordering?

thanks.

Yes, absolutely. But they are no good for games which require a 3k expansion.

Just PM me.

Just got mine and tested it over the weekend.

It is a really impressive (and physically small) solution if all you need is the extra 32k of RAM. Highly recommended.

Wow, quite elegant in its simplicity.

So, it seems that one can see on the board where an extra chip for the P.A. would go?

Not that it matters, but I like the color of the board, feels vintage.

Really elegantly simple.

Despite not being in a case, only about 1cm or so hangs out the back of the computer once it is installed (giving access to the switches). I was thinking about making my own case, but after plugging it in and looking at it I haven't bothered progressing the idea.

Not having a case is an advantage on older 2-Prong VICs.

These VIC-20s have the voltage regulator inside the computer so they produce a lot more heat. With the cart port not completely obstructed, air still flows in that area allowing the VIC to cool off better.

There is something sexy about exposed digital circuitry anyways :P

This product is awesome, especially given the low wait-time.
