More like deadly caverns ...

Post by rhurst »

Ok, I am stumped. How does one play Perilous Caverns on Mega-Cart? It seems every time I move, I just die. Only once did I get past that "green plunger", only to die on the other side of it on top of the ladder.

Hint? Manual? YouTube? Trainer/cheat? Help?!??!!

Those purple spiky things, you can't stop on them so you have to always move across them. Hence you just need to time it so you aren't then squashed by the plunger when you get to the other side. I must have progressed to some point further on as witnessed by the screenshot I have in GB20...

 I should have figured that one out myself. Still, that's an awful way to start the game with a tricky timing maneuver.

Yeah... and it doesn't get any easier from there-on either!

That's a coincidence - I just had a go myself and searched the forums for some comments on this game, only to find a thread two days old!

It's an impressive game - I was surprised when it started scrolling! Ah, it's a 24k game. Does anyone know how many levels there are? Mr Dietmair was rather prolific in the early 90s!

I think I'll try it on emulator rather than the real vic though because all that tricky maneuvering is too much for my stiff old Wico Command Control Stick.

This game has been a mystery to me since the day I got my megacart. Who chose this? It seems impossible!

I tried it in VICE. Didn't make any difference to how far I got. Collision detection with the arrows(?) seems bad. Shame.

Sounds like a job for nbla000 to tweak to allow ordinary humans a chance to get past level one . . .

Mega-Cart: the cartridge you plug in once and for all.
