|
|
Hey guys, I run a C64 centric blog and podcast and wanted to do one on the VIC-20. I was going to talk about things like the Mega-cart and Realms of Quest III. Any other topics you want to suggest are welcome.
I usually start off my podcasts with SID music or use it in the background -- so my VIC-20 n00bish question is --- is there a method to play VIC-20 sound files and convert them to MP3 for use in my podcast? Or does someone have some recorded VIC-20 music they can point me to? I was thinking along the lines of the ROQ music.
Here's a sample podcast from my site

- you can see I get thousands of plays, so maybe I can bring some new attention to the Denial forums as well! _________________ The C64Walkabout Blog and Podcast for all Commodore-related goodness! |

I listen to your podcast and quite enjoy it. It would be great to hear someone talk about the Vic for a change though!
If you search the forum for Datapop you'll find an MP3 of the track. Also, go to the Vic Tracker site and you'll find MP3's there too. There's also some MP3's of the ORB demos. If you want them I can send you an email with a bunch of MP3's. I have a soft spot for the sound of the Vic! Oh, I also have the Robotic Liberation soundtrack as MP3.
Maybe you should speak to Carlsson as well as he's very familiar with Vic music.
Good Luck! I look forward to hearing your podcast. _________________ "...That of the Eastern tribe being like a multitude of colours as if a rainbow had settled upon its brow..." Daniels 1:3 |

Thanks Pedro! Glad you like the podcast.
Datapop is perfect/great for an intro. If you have the Robotic Liberation ST on hand I'd love it if you could send to robinson.mason AT swbell.net _________________ The C64Walkabout Blog and Podcast for all Commodore-related goodness! |

Done! You should receive it shortly.
Do you plan on doing other Vic podcasts or segments in your regular podcast? There's a wealth of stuff to talk about in the Vic... From classic games from Minter et al through to modern gems like Jeff's and Robert's games. There's also all the interesting hardware. You mentioned the Mega-Cart but of course there's also the FE3, the old but gold Behr Bonz and the Ultimate Expander. There's also tons of potential in the future from things like Schema's MIDI project and Ian's speech cart. The list us endless... Wait 'til TNT releases his Z Code Interpreter! _________________ "...That of the Eastern tribe being like a multitude of colours as if a rainbow had settled upon its brow..." Daniels 1:3 |

Thanks! I actually listened to this episode of your podcast about a year ago during the "making of" Realms III. I sent you a PM with my contact information if you have any questions about my game. _________________ "A slave is one who waits for someone to come and free him." -- Ezra Pound |

Thanks for the ideas (and music) Pedro and Ghislain. There may well be more VIC-20 podcasts, it's just up to me to get up to speed enough on the topics to discuss them properly. I have installed a Skype recorder that I could use for a *joint* podcast if anyone is interested, though! Still need to test it out as I would hate to have it crash during an "interview".
Edit: I also saw the service that you mentioned Ghislain, so we could try that - sounds great! _________________ The C64Walkabout Blog and Podcast for all Commodore-related goodness! |
