XU1541 USB Adaptor
I never knew there was a USB adaptor: XU1541 USB Adapter. I've purchased their serial versions, dumb and smart, and had a lot of success using both Star Commander and OpenCBM. This looks pretty good to have. Any personal reviews?[/url]

Yes. I already use MMC64 with my C64, and a similar solution would be OK also for the VIC.
Unfortunately, I have to wait for Jim Brain to produce a new batch of SD2IEC, which is temporary out of stock.
Furthermore, MMC64 won't allow multiple load from a d64 image- can you tell me if SD2IEC has the same limitation?

PET newbie question: Does that mean compatibility with PET computers?we work on a SD2IEC with USB connector, which has optionally IEEE-488 (SD2IEEE)

Why not a FE3?orion70 wrote:Yes. I already use MMC64 with my C64, and a similar solution would be OK also for the VIC.
It has a full SD2IEC + 512KB Sram + 512KB flash memory.
SD2IEC also can mount 1 d64 image. It isn't possible to appear as 2 floppy devices (9 and . Either as device 8 or 9 (10, 11).orion70 wrote:Furthermore, MMC64 won't allow multiple load from a d64 image- can you tell me if SD2IEC has the same limitation?

But not only. Nils will produce a new card in near future: XS-1541-SD
Which combines thre projects:
+ SD2IEC (SD floppy for VIC or C-64)
+ XS-1541 (Floppys connected to a PC by USB)
+ SD2IEEE (SD Floppy for IEEE-488 (PET, CBM-4xxx, CBM-8xxx)
SD2IEC and SD2IEEE: only one system same time. Either connected to a IEC controller (VIC, C64) or connected to a IEEE controller (PET, CBM, CBM-II)

Wow, sounds like a Mega-Floppy to me!

Sounds like it's too much for me - I only want to play Infocom text adventures, VICtoria and some other stuff on a real VIC .Diddl wrote:Why not a FE3? It has a full SD2IEC + 512KB Sram + 512KB flash memory.
I didn't mean this. What I meant to say was: will it be possible to load multiple prgs from a single-mounted d64 (like e.g. playing VICtoria)?Diddl wrote:SD2IEC also can mount 1 d64 image. It isn't possible to appear as 2 floppy devices (9 and . Either as device 8 or 9 (10, 11).
This is way beyond my expectations... computers will take power if we go on like that (at least, this is what we thought in the 1980s ).Diddl wrote:But not only. Nils will produce a new card in near future: XS-1541-SD

Yes of course you can load multiple programs from one D64. After mounting a D64 it is like a normal 1541 Floppy device. Except of executing mashine code on floppy (M-E) all commands are supported.orion70 wrote:I didn't mean this. Not for VIC but on C-64 some games consists of more than one diskette. SD2IEc solves this problem by two keys (next/previous diskette).

Great! Basing on this discussion, and being a little less ignorant about this matter, I guess all I need is:
- The SD2IEC
- Its daughter board
The daughter board can be assembled by the seller upon request, as I read in the SD2IEC thread:
[sorry for posting these questions here, but the SD2IEC thread is quite confusing . I'll drop these questions now, because they're OT here.]

Correct? Or do I need also some specific software?RobertBe wrote:The SD2IEC daughterboard can be assembled by NKCElectronics.com if you ask.nbla000 wrote:The SD2IEC has a nice daughter board even if you need to build it yourself
