Hello,
Hope everyone is fine...
I just purchased from ebay a vic-1541 drive for my vic-20. I got it and plugged it in, turned it on and the green light is on, but the red light keeps flashing and when i put a floppy disk and try the load"$",8 it just keeps loading and it never see's anything on the disk...i have tried several floppys also....The drive when i turn it on it just keeps flashing the red light 3 times and off and on again....
Is there anyway i can stop the red light from flashing?
Does the flashing red light indicate its a bad floppy drive?

Maybe this?
UC8 74LS42 LOGIC
When drive powered up, spindle motor runs continuously. Red LED may stay on, or flash three times and go out.
Got that info from:
http://personalpages.tds.net/~rcarlsen/cbm/1541chip.txt
Try this too:

If you're not technically inclined, it might just be best to grab another one (sold as tested, preferably) and try again...
