I'm wondering if you can clock it?

show screenshots of real hardware or it did never happen....
1983 vic20 & 3k-16k ram expansion....

Real hardware... and I think the NTSC guys will find it easier.

And screen shots not needed as anyone who owns a VIC is clearly trustworthy.

Best I've done recently is about level 47 or so. I don't remember the score. I can doctor up a screen shot for you if you'd like :)

That's twice as much as my highscore

The furthest I've managed to get is Level 4, and my highest score is 270.

Am I the only one who finds this game really hard?

Unfortunatly it starts getting to the point your on full thrust for most of the descent, and your fuel just disappears.

So which one of the three landing places are you using then? And do you have any gameplay tips? :-)

Always use 10x as you're limited to the number of landings you can do, due to the gravity increasing after each level.
You end up using 5x on the last landing as the gravity is too high to make it to the 10x. Just concentrate on maximising your landing score to be at least 6000 per landing and it's fairly easy. I assume if you were really good and got like 7000+ a landing you'd get 100,000.
