I believe it might have already been translated here:

But perhaps this is different.

I have a Super Expander with 3K ram here and it is called the VIC-1211A

I have seen the 3K ram alone and it is labeled VIC-1210 but I have never seen a Super Expander with no RAM expansion, AFAIK this type of configuration cannot work.

The Super Expander works perfectly well with 8k, 16k or 24k of RAM expansion, however.

Nice tread. Unfortunately, many of the old picture links are broken.

I found this on commodore.ca.

Might be one of the earlier broken image links, or maybe not. Interesting to see that the monitor is different.. and no disk drive! There is also a CBM4032, so the image is probably from 1980 since the disk drive was launched in 1981.

Regarding the Super Expander there seem to be different versions out there at least in Japan.

I found a picture of a VIC-1211 (without any letter):

http://sleepingelephant.com/ipw-web/bul ... =11&t=6976

Not sure now if this is without 3K...

Then there seems to be a VIC-1211M - it is mentioned in some japanese brochures and I found this YouTube-video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8bpGyUL6oo

It seems to have a command called "PIANO". A Google-translation of the video-description reads:

"VIC-1211M CBM basic V2 that was extended with super expander will be able to use the keyboard as a keyboard in PIANO statement. Because only pressed key in turn is a test of only one have come up with any sound"

I've really only seen the common VIC-1211A in action.

The Japanese guy that I contacted, owner of this page that I linked earlier, sent me an high resolution scan of the brochure.

I reconstructed the parts of the 1510 monitor that are hidden behind other items (looking at other photos where the monitor is "unobstructed"). This is the result, I think that this one could replace the image in the wiki:

Image

I asked the same guy if he remembered if the 1510 was actually sold in Japan; I wrote him in English and he always replied in Japanese, so I will report here the original answer hoping that someone can translate it, and the google translation.

Q: Do you know if the VIC 1510 monitor was actually sold in Japan?

I think that it probably had
I do not remember exactly at that time still a child
I'll VIC-1001 that is connected to the monitor to the toy store was Yes on display
The accompanying photos, the Japan of Commodore company had been issued at that time, in the booklet, has interviewed a location that uses a computer of Commodore

And he sent me an image of a magazine cover. Low res, I have just straightened and lightly color corrected it:

Image

So... he maybe had the monitor, and he remembers it on display in a toy store; this, plus the cover of the magazine (the only picture where the 1510 is turned on!), could mean that it was actually sold in Japan after all.

These new images are a great find. Thanks for pursuing this investigation. I'll update the Wiki with this information.

Wow, great find :). Maybe our mysterious monitor is a re-branded one then?

Excellent find on that monitor. It appears to be a BMC branded monitor. I was able to find was this picture of one of their monochrome monitors:

http://www.tvfilmprops.co.uk/userdata/PRODPIC-1131.jpg

They also advertised in several editions of the 1980s magazine "PC Mag" for both colour and monochrome monitors (Google Books search).

Found this CPM computer they re-branded:
http://classiccmp.org/dunfield/miscpm/h/bif800.jpg

Based on the look of the BMC label on the monitor, I suspect that BMC was just re-branding other OEM monitors like Commodore was. So who was the original manufacturer of the 1510 and the BMC colour monitor, then?
