Mastertronic Vic20 Releases - missing game?

Post by Vic20-Ian »

From what I have and am aware of through talking with Pedro these are the known Vic20 releases by Mastertronic in release order.

What is the missing game this website is referring too with 12 releases in 1984, 5 in 1985 + 1 in 1987? 18 Releases in total.

http://www.guter.org/mastertronic_stats.htm

1984 1V0001 Duck Shoot
1984 1V0002 Vegas Jackpot
1984 1V0011 Phantom Attack
1984 1V0012 3d Maze
1984 1V0019 Space Scramble
1984 1V0023 Hektik (8k)
1984 1V0026 Sub Hunt
1984 1V0029 Undermine
1984 1V0031 Psycho Shopper (titled Shopper on the game screen)
1984 1V0032 Neutron Zapper
1984 1V0033 Bullet
1984 1V0034 New York Blitz
1985 1V0059 Doodle Bug
1985 1V0067 RIP The Game
1985 1V0068 Rockman
1985 1V0075 King Tut
1985 1V0085 Crazy Cavey

What is the 1987 release hinted at on the Guter site?

It could be any of these Mastertronic labels:

Mastertronic 199
MAD
Mastertronic Plus
Bulldog
Ricochet
Entertainment USA

This sounds like a job for Mayhem and Gamebase 20!

Ricochet is both an Epyx title and a Mastertronic label AND a silverbird release for the c64.
You forgot one label though. Mastertronic 299 Range, not sure it had anything released on the vic20 though...

Don't know what the 18th game is...

Dear Ian

Thanks for your kind words.
I had another look at the stats and realised an error had crept in - the Vic figure actually referred to an old Melbourne House title that came into our catalogue after we took them over, and is not a genuine release at all. So thanks for helping correct the site and I hope you did not get excited about a hitherto unheard-of release. I have now corrected my web site

best wishes

Anthony Guter
False Alarm guys, I think it was Wizard and the Princess coming in to their catalogue but it wasn't re-released.

Bugger. I actually just popped back on to the Guter site to find the ammendment. I was getting quite excited there for a while.

TBH, I had a feeling that it might have had something to do with the Melbourne house aqcuisition after I found this on the Adventure Land site:

"Early in 1987, Mastertronic bought the European part of Melbourne House and the Melbourne House name."

Oh well, I suppose it means that another error has been corrected in the Vic's history even if there is no new mystery Mastertronic game!

Well done Ian! :)

In fact Anthony said the only reason it appeared in his database was that it was for a return of Wizard and The Princess!
