NON-WORKING COMMODORE VIC 20 - $35 (NORTHBROOK, IL)

THIS A TRUE CLASSIC THAT COULD BE FIXED. NOT SURE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT BUT WORKING COMMODORE VIC 20'S ARE GOING FOR BIG BUCKS.

I am tempted to send the seller a hyperlink to viceteam.org where you can get FREE WORKING VIC 20s.

... but he might counter that with there's no challenge in trying to fix it! :P

I always wonder how people come up with their prices. How did this seller come to the conclusion that their broken VIC-20 is worth $35. Why not $30? Why not $40? I'd email them asking but I doubt I would get an honest answer and they'd probably read something into the question and get angry.
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.

It's possible he's basing his assessment on some auctions on eBay. I can't see him being offended by asking him what he bases his price on; it's all in how one asks.

Yeah,

I just love getting price quotes based on what eBay auctions are priced at for "buy-it-now"

These people should learn to do pricing based on completed auctions.

Especially when it's broken, or even in poor condition, i.e., missing keycaps, sticky switches, marring, etc.

Yeah, but look at this auction... I am  to see it jump to such a figure, regardless that it's "mint". Good for the seller!

I'll wager the seller may have settled with a Buy It Now! tag of $99.95 instead of taking the chance with a $9.99 starting bidding price.

I saw a claim that a C64 new-in-box got a frenzy bidding war going on -- it went for $139.50. Cripes!! The "still has original ties on the chords" it claimed were WHITE in the picture. I think what clinched it was, "the old lady that had it stored in her attic all those years sold it to me at a church rummage sale, saying she never used it because the instruction manual was to complicated." Great bait!! :P

Anyways, I won another "nice" C64 in its original box, manuals, etc. for $12. Go figure.
