1541-IDE: 16 MB version

Post by ruud »

Yesterday I succeeded in letting my harddisk equiped 1541-II think that it is dealing with a 16 MB floppy: 65022 blocks free :)
Next two steps:
- adding partitions. My system is able to handle up to 4096 partitions (= 128 GB). CMD only handles 256 AFAIK
- subdirectories. This means supporting sudirectories as we know them but also to let a subdirectory point to another partition.

More info will follow!

Thanks :)

First an update: I just realised supporting partitions.

See http://www.baltissen.org/newhtm/1541ide8.htm for the hardware details. The rest is quite outdated. You need the extra RAM. I am quite sure that I could create a version without the extra RAM but that will be at the cost of speed. The renewed page will explain this.

Feel free to email me in private.
