* redefined graphics
* sound effects
* PAL/NTSC autodetect
* joystick support
* end game messages
* "got amulet" indicator

Find your way through the dungeon levels and bring the Amulet back to the surface. Watch out for fierce guardian Demons and other creatures living in the dungeons.

Use the joystick or ZXOK to move. Move towards a monster to attack it. Any items are picked up when you walk on them.

Very well done. I only wish this were in the Mega-Cart.
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.

Excellent, very fun. Thank you.
I'm sure that in 2009 we'll see many games which would have been just perfect in the Mega-Cart - but they couldn't wait anymore :D .

BTW Jeff, why don't you create a sticky "VIC-20 Software Releases of 2009" thread in the General topics section?

I'll likely try this tonight. In the mean time, I added the new sticky topic. I'm not sure if there has been any previous releases of 2009, the 40 column adventure game seemed more like an adoption/hack than a full release?

More a conversion to the Vic20 from the C64. It certainly is more a new release than this, which is more an upgrade of the previous game. A very good upgrade mind you ;)

I agree. I think both games constitute a release. Island of Secrets is, as Mayhem says, a port of a C64 game and Whack-e is an enhanced re-release. VICtoria and VICtoria Gold were counted as 2 different releases.

Don't worry orion70 I'll get you the credit you deserve! :P

Hey guys, thanks for the support. Indeed, IOS is a conversion from C64, but also Mille Bornes was, so why not putting all the games previously unseen on the VIC in the "New software" thread? This can be held true both for games and utilities, even if there are versions for other computers.

Everybody are allowed to post.. :-D Golan is just going to fix my improvised formatting to one that better adheres to how we posted the entries last year, then you can add other entries to the same thread.

Sorry but since we are close to send first cartridges no any further update is awaited, i'm just waiting some compatibility tests with uIEC, nothing else finally :D
Mega-Cart: the cartridge you plug in once and for all.

Also remember I'm hoping that we'll be able to put together a Denial Collection III soon. We will have at least 160K to fill up, so plenty of room for new games.

Adding graphics to this game really sets the mood.

I've been playing this for a wee while now. It's nice to see the joystick auto repeating and the slightly slower movement speed. I think it's much more controllable now. Well done bloke! :)

I have to admit that, while I do like the graphics, I prefer dungeon crawlers with the ASCII characters. All the contemporary roguelikes I play today are all ASCII. It's probably an age thing but that's what I relate to most.

That's not to say that I'm not loving this wee gem. The graphics are really nice. :)

Off Topic: I've said it before but I'm surprised that there aren't a whole raft of ASCII roguelikes on the VIC. Is it a memory issue or more to do with the limits in display, do you think?

Again, Kweepa gets the first new release of the year. I can't wait to play it. I need to make the second release just to keep last year's pattern. I'm going for it tonight!
