Some more bad news. I played the game (the single filed NTSC version on both a real VIC-20 and in VICE).

If I go East, then South to where the boatman is, then say

> GO BOAT

I get this screen:

Syntax Error in 1040.

Is that east and south from the start? I can't even do that part to check myself. How did you reach the part that causes the syntax error?

But I did look at line 1040 and yeah, it's missing the OSUB of a GOSUB on the line. Time to fix and repack into one file again...

I'm so sorry guys, I missed that one. Incredibly, the error was already present in the Commodore 64 version of the adventure. I fixed it, and now you can download the correct version at the same link:

http://sites.google.com/a/vic20.it/file ... OS_VIC.zip

That's what happens if you go south from the starting position and then type "go boat": it's too early to go to the Island, so you become Omegan's slave forever!

Now, if Formater could do the one-file job again... Or maybe it would be useful to play-test it a little further? BTW, I've got the walkthrough, but it's in Italian (there was also an Italian version of the game). :D

Here http://rapidshare.com/files/202142241/O ... s.zip.html you can download a new 1part version of the 3 files of Orion,

Island of secrets (Last version)
Nuclear Plant
Ouranos!.

With the essencial help of Carlsson I can made a 1part who runs in boths NTSC and PAL, the FAT-40 is the original, but the line inserted in the program is

10 IFPEEK(60900)=12THENPOKE36864,14:POKE36865,40

Please, test in original VICs in NTSC and PAL system, I can't, because actually I only have the emulator

And if anyone bothers, here is my variant of doing the same thing.

http://www.cbm.sfks.se/files/pet2vic.d64

Please test these files. Just like Formater, these three are single filed but I'm using my stripped down version of Fat 40 (an oxymoron?) as well as Pucrunch to make the files smaller. If anyone wants, I can supply the DASM code which lets you insert pretty much any 40 column Basic program at the end of the file. It automatically set up pointers and starts the game.

If you hit RUN/STOP + RESTORE, you restart the games with SYS 8850.

Amazing work in such a short time.

But the version of Ouranos in these two compilations is still the buggy one, right?

Yes, I believe one needs to shorten the display by one row to avoid the buggy behavior.

No new error reported since the ral-clan one, I think this is the good version, but the last word is for Orion

Unfortunately, I have no last word for it at the moment, as I'm trying to solve the game with the solution for the Italian version, and I'm stuck at the very beginning (as I wrote before, in the Italian version there's one apple to give to the snake in the same location of the snake, but apparently the apple is not there in the English game). Since the Italian version was "remixed" (slightly modified), I don't know if this problem with the apple is a bug, or I should find it somewhere else :? .

give me a copy of the solution and I try to pass this point.

The line 1780 have a error, I think is missing a = between B$ and (2758158)
