Looking for a PAL VIC-20

Post by Pedro Lambrini »

My VIC died a wee while back (I've actually lost my C64, 128D and VIC in a matter of weeks!) and have been trying to get one on eBay. I'm tired of waiting for days for an auction to end just to get sniped at the last minute so I have come here!

Does anyone have a PAL VIC for sale at a reasonable price? The nicer the condition, the better as I'm sick of my computers popping their clogs! Thanks :)

Unfortunately no. It's a long story but suffice to say it's in the bin... :(

That's a tragedy. :(

Unfortunately, the PAL VIC-20s seem to be rarer than the NTSC ones.

Tell me about it! They're getting to be like hens teeth. And feckin' expensive. I can get a C16 or a Plus/4 for about £20-£25. VIC's are going for closer to £60 with no extras!

Never, ever do that again.

Ever.

I am still repenting for the VICs I trashed in the 90s. I don't think I will ever forgive myself.

Yeah, it's a morose tale that I don't want to get into but it wasn't entirely my fault!

Anyway, I didn't think it would be so hard to get a replacement. I mean, I know it's an old system now but they were pretty ubiquitous when I was younger. Where are they all now? Are they really all dead and in the bin??

I could go and pick up a C64 without batting an eyelid and they're not that much youger...but I can't play my up-coming Mega-Cart in that!

So, nobody got one for sale? :)

EDIT: Another bloody auction lost at 84 Euros! Grrrr!

£60 for a loose PAL VIC-20? Either you look in the wrong places or exaggerate a bit. Even in the expensive country of Sweden, I could find a loose VIC for about £10-15 if I look around a bit. Not that I need any.

If you can find a VIC for £10-£15 let me know where and I'll buy it. The only places I know of are eBay or so-called 'retro computer' shops. The cheapest one I've seen is 40 Euros but it's in Germany and the postage adds another 27 Euros - that's 67 Euros (around £60)...
