Brian is still making them, I just got notified that mine is near top of the queue, and will be unit #280. I placed my order in April. Given the apparent attention to detail that he takes and the fact that it's just him with a bunch of old VIC 20 Cartridge Cases, some PCBs, ICs, and a Soldering Iron, I think the wait is perfectly acceptable.

Mine is #279 and just shipped this week. Can't recall when I ordered it.... must have been in the spring also. I knew going into it that it wouldn't be until the end of the summer until I got it and I've got an FE3 to keep me company anyhow.
Amazing that Brian and co. has managed to build and sell 280 of these!

You may as well submit your request for one now as it will be a long time before you have to hand over any cash for one (and that will also get you in the queue sooner too).
I'm in the queue, too. I heard back from him on Jan 23 with the order confirmation. I'm just waiting for payment instructions.
This is pretty typical for retro hardware. I've been waiting many months for an Amiga 1231 accelerator from Vesalia. I've also been waiting for a VGA adapter from somewhere in Austrailia for twice as long.
For other folks wondering: I put in an order on Feb. 14 and received a reply around March 9, stating I was in the queue and should expect to receive a "ready to ship" invoice in about 10-12 weeks.
Looking forward to mine! I worry from time to time that I overlooked the final e-mail asking me to pay or it fell into the black hole of my spam inbox.
I placed my order on Jan 17th. Still haven't received payment instructions. I've asked twice for an update and he does respond, simply saying he's busy at work and I'm still in the queue. I haven't received any queue number, though.
