New Release: Game Theory 2

Post by Jeff-20 »

Game Theory 2
A game for the Unexpanded Vic 20, Joystick required. All BASIC.

Image

This is a sequel to Game Theory.

Improvements to the series:
- A greater number of games.
- An increasing difficulty level (so you can't just play forever.)
- More child friendly games (dedicated to Brent.)

Download

It plays too easy on a VIC (at first, but the difficulty does increase.) It plays too hard on my emulator, but I think that may just be my computer. The timing is off-sync!

Suggested improvements to the series:
- Should I make it joystick optional? Keyboard and joystick controlled?
- Should I start at an even lower difficulty level?
- Title screen is exactly the same as Game Theory 1. Is that a problem or a brand?

Very nice and fun, thank you!
Not too bad in VICE either. You should rename the file gametheory2 to gametheory2.prg (currently no extension).

Also, put it in the Software Releases of 2008 thread.

Yeah, had no issues in Vice playing, aside from screwing up the timing occasionally. Best score so far: 18. Which is better than I managed in the first game. Maybe that says something about the increasing difficulty level.

Yes! If you want, anything I make is available to you! I wasn't sure if you'd think this one was fun.

Question: Are all the games intuitive? Any problematic games? I'm always so excited when people play something I made. And for some reason, I really enjoy making tiny tiny games.

...and we enjoy the tiny, tiny (well crafted) games!

Thanks for the inclusion of child-friendly games. This is really a title that can appeal to all ages.

OT: She's back. I must have missed Jeff's concession speech and I can only assume the old avatar indicates that the campaign is over.
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.

I guess I'm taking a campaign break. :)

BTW, Mayhem, Did you find any of the games to be problematic? Like the Balloon Pop game in the first release. Either too difficult, or not easy to figure out at first? I have several alternative games that didn't make the cut.

Also, I didn't have help for the colors on this one, so if any are difficult to see, I can change the colors.

No issues with any of the minigames, unlike say the ghost catcher in the first game (which was bloody hard to time). Just more down to poor timing on my part causing end of game.

Great stuff once again!
Do I recognize some enlarged versions of some of my 8x8s in the Zoo?

YEP! I should give credit where it's due! The snail was inspired by the snail in this image.

And the eyes of the moose(deer?) were inspired somehow by the eyes of the dog(?) here.

That's actually when I started working on the game in my head... and after this:

I get a lot of help on my games here. Either inspiration (like from the above request) or programming suggestions (like Robin's optimization of my chase routine in Ghost). I (heart) this place!
