I'm curious about the colour of the plastic around the power connector. That seems to be the real marker because it can't easily be changed like a disk mech can.
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.

the power connector on mine is white, but i've also got two Vic-1541s that have this white connector as well. these probably have the long boards in them...

also, any idea what a 1540 is 'worth'? i'm thinking of selling mine unless there's any worthwhile reason to hold onto it (?).

Well, I guess we'll find out at the end of my auction, 5 days from today. ;)

I'll post a link to the auction in the Buy, Sell, and Trade section as soon as it "goes live", in about 4 hours from now.

Ok, most of you seem to be in America (US & Canada), and since I am in Europe thing may be different here.

My 1540 has the black faceplate and black power plug.
The first 1541 (which sometimes still say 1540 on the back, but already 1541 on the front) also have the black faceplate (and the very long board)
Later 1541s in white had the brown faceplate and Assy 1540050 board, still no C= logo on top and the first half of the bottom case is closed. (no air slots), like all 1540 and 1541 in white case.
Then, the first brown 1541 had still the old bottom with half clodes bottom, and Assy 1540050 board, but already the new upper case with C= logo.

That's the European 1540/1541 chronicles ;)
