Wow. I give them full credit for not only using a VIC-20 as a prop but hooking it up and having the VIC-20 generate the text on the screen! Phenomenal.
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.
This is great....but is it a show set in the 1980s, or is it supposed to be that the character is so out-of-touch that he still uses a VIC-20 to run his business in 2007 (no offense to the members ). He's typing the word "Internet" so I assume it takes place now.
This is one of the best shows on TV right now, and one of my favorite series of all time. Season 1 just came out on DVD.
The joke is one of many running gags that play on how out of touch New Zealand (the country from which the main characters hail) is. Obviously they exaggerate a little bit.
Though it's generally always visible in his office, I uploaded a couple clips where their manager's VIC was prominently featured: http://www.zhxhome.net/fotc-vic/
"25 years and it's already obsolete! They move fast now, don't they?"
I think we covered this in another thread. The Vic 20 can't handle a large enough buffer for the content of these forums. That's probably why we don't see too many New Zealanders here.
This show has been airing in Canada on either BRAVO or SHOWCASE, can't remember! I caught it one night about three weeks ago but the weather interference with the satellite signal made the show unwatchable.
