Arma's Archive

Post by Xanadu »

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of his work, I can't find any live sites anywhere

Is there a secret FTP site that holds his TAP's and scans ?

Thanks

You can use the "Wayback Machine", or internet archive to see a rough version of Arma's TAP pages. Unfortunately, none of the TAP images are accessible.

I was emailing him for a while when his page went down and he was considering putting it back up somewhere else but he stopped replying one day and I haven't heard a peep from him since.

With the new Gamebase 64 project going, hopefully someone will create a new Vic20 site where everything is archived in one place, similar to www.c64.com.

Rather than the smattering of sites with partial sets of ROMs:
http://pirates.emucamp.com/a/vc20games.html
http://www.computerbrains.com/stuff.htm
ftp://ftp.zimmers.net/pub/vic20
http://www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary' ... ummary.htm
http://www.vc20.de
http://www.us-lazarus.com/rom-burner/sets/c64.shtml

Also, there are still some great TAPs and games that are not at any of these sites. Without proper archiving, this stuff will be lost.

how much disk space would such a vic20 archive require?

Thanks for those links MacGuyver

Arma seems to have just disappeared !?

Some of us are helping out with the Gamebase project being done at the moment and hopefully a Beta version will soon be available

I am scanning my collection at the moment, I have 160+ carts and about 70 boxes to get through

I will soon try and make some TAP files as well soon as I have some nice rare Vic-20 games also

Jeff-20, an archive should take quick a bit of space, as much as 50megs maybe as TAP files are quite big even when zipped

@Xanadu - I have around 120 complete Vic20 carts here and about 20 loose, so once you're done, let me know what you still need and I can fill some gaps. Remember also there are name variations to deal with (eg. Jupiter Lander = Super Lander, Midnight Drive = Road Race etc) packaging wise.

@Mika - hint, hint heh... as said, I might get around to documenting my Vic20 collection at some point, but if Xanadu is way ahead of the game, then might as well combine efforts and do something together.

Over the weekend I transferred my copy of arma's TAP collection, plus my own TAP collection (which has full tape inlay scans, not just the front cover of the inlay) to sjakie43 for gamebase vic-20.

It sounds like there is a lot of good work being done at the moment to get the collection together. Hopefully we shall see some great results in the coming months.

:D
