I think everyone saw this picture first in the event report. It's very nice! I may steal that idea. The VIC character size would probably make for an excellent image.

I was wondering what this was on the show report. Nice to have the explanation. Where did you get the little LCD TV or monitor (and if a monitor does it accept a PAL signal)?

The monitor is a standard monitor for use in cars. This one got a higher resolution so the picture is real good. The price is around 180 US$. I think it takes both PAL and NTSC.

You do really nice work. You're going to have quite a time topping that effort. I guess that's half the fun.
In the end it will be as if nothing ever happened.

It's a really good idea to make a more portable system, but how is the monitor powered? By a separate power supply?

Yes! The TFT uses 12 volts and the connection for the 12 volts is on the back, near the normal power input.

It might work with a voltage regulator to boost up the voltage to 12 volts but I guess I need to use a more heavy duty power supply for the C64 like the PSU that comes with the REU for example.

Wow!!! That is so cool!

What are the XLR outputs for? Do you mean you have balanced audio out?

Jag ser förresten att du har köpt en tejprulle på Biltema! ;)

The XLR outputs is not balanced, they are connected to the same audio outputs as the rca's, that way you don't need any adapters if you going to use XLR-cables. (To Boray, the spraypaint is also from Biltema)

From what I understand, it's pretty hard to hook a salvaged laptop LCD to an analogue signal. You need to know the signals the particular LCD expects, know the pinouts/ins and create an interface that will convert the signals (D/A?) Even to send a regular VGA video signal to a salvaged LCD monitor would be pretty difficult to do, I imagine.

I have two old salvaged LCD panels from 486 laptops. I wish I could put them to use, too...

I'm sure if Stonan had made 10 of those units and sold them for $600+ each, all of them would be sold by now.
