Maybe it's common, but I've never seen this book cover before.

Just in case the above was nothing special... here's something interesting to look at...

Yes, that manual looks exactly like the one I got with my Vic 20, though in slightly better shape.

Yeah, one of my ~8 guides has that cover. There is nothing printed on the inside of the front cover (I think all my other copies have the date/edition info printed in there). Instead, the back cover is a little different, with the copyright 1982 info there, along with the address of Commodore Canada. So maybe this is a Canadian-only version? Or maybe it's just the very first edition of the guide? No edition version is mentioned.

Yep, I'm in Canada too and I have that VIC manual. I always though it was really funny because:

a) the VIC is really oversized
b) it's floating in the air
c) no power cord
d) no monitor
e) the guy is sitting an an extremely awkward position to be using it.

NOTE: Commodore CANADA re-used this exact same picture for the cover of the manual to the Waterloo Structured Basic cartridge (VIC-1001). They just changed the title.

The image is reminiscent of those drawn in the Canadian version of the Boy Scout handbook of the day. It also reminds me of the safety diagrams drawn in the manuals of GM vehicles of the day.
