As the comment said, it are EPROMs that can replace the 2364, the roms used in the C64 and VIC-20. So purists amongst us can use these instead the more common available 2764 + socket converter.

But be aware, the is a little snack (or snag ?), try to find a prommer that can handle them first. I am able to burn them because I first re-enginered my PC-prommer and wrote a program for it. But it was worth the trouble.

The Commodore-based EPROM burners - Promenade, PromQueen, etc. will handle these just fine. You can also make an adaptor.

I have a bunch of Motorola 68764s and they work very well. What's different with the 68766?

Here's the annoying part:
Shipping cost will be a flat $25 for USPS Global Expedited Service (EMS) to Canada.
$25 to ship a tube of ICs? Utter ripoff.

Is someone in the US willing to accept these and forward them on? You can keep a few while you're at it

Much love for Google. They're basically the same chips except for the standby mode power.

What is the programming voltage for these? I might be interested
if I can build an adapter for my programmer.

Schema, I would be willing to ship you some of those, even
if I couldn't use them myself.
If you document it, its not a bug, its a feature.

Well, I ended up winning 45 of these chips, and shipped them thru a friend in the USA to save on shipping.

I'll never need this many, so I may resell them for a token amount. Anyone need these? They're handy because you don't need the 24 to 28 pin adapters.

Well, I noticed the shipping cost does not increase if you order more than one tube so I ordered 2 of them...
