Sports games on the Vic?

I havent used tapes long time. Well.. Only with Vic20 and C64. What software I need to make WAV? Is it possible with softwares that come with XP? Have to check that out. Just remember all those azimuz problems when tryed load games.. Would regular tape recorder make WAV good enought..carlsson wrote:Don't you have a regular tape recorder with at least headphone output, so you could connect a cable between your sound card's mic/line in and the tape recorder? If so, you could create a WAV sample of the tape, and someone else could help you archive it as a TAP.

I used to use Sound Forge for copying Vic-20 tapes to WAV files.
This link is for current version (not sure if it is crippleware)

Settings should be 11Khz mono to keep file size smaller.
There are a few utilities to convert WAV to TAP file.
Send me PM and I will set up FTP for transfer of WAV file, if want, and I can do conversion of wav to TAP or to PRG format.

Atleast I tryed keep volume low enought, so level would not be too high. Hope that WAV file works.carlsson wrote:Indeed. I'm not entirely sure what a different azimuth angle does to the data when read, but the software to convert a WAV to TAP has a number of settings to compensate.Mikam73 wrote:Just remember all those azimuz problems when tryed load games..
Then I could WAV other Vic20 games too..
Hm, how well does the X1531 cable work with mtap and ptap? That is, if you have an older PC with both parallel and game ports, or some other source for powering the C2N with +5V. I suppose if you have a big array of tape software to archive, it would both work faster and be more reliable than sampling to WAV. If you're not capable of building the cable, someone else may.

I also have C64 version of Yleisurheilu.

Btw ive got most success in "salvaging" old/beaten tapes using tape64 v 1.2.
Just by trying different parameters for the playspeed (-s)
