Early "Made in Japan" VIC-20 for sale

Post by eslapion »

I have a VIC for sale here and it works perfectly fine but I don't want to offer it to Joe sixpack on eBay.

It's a very special piece of equipment. It's one of the very early VICs made in Japan and all the chips inside are dated 1981. It has the keyboard with squarish keys and hidden electrical tape. These keyboards were modified PET keyboards.

It needs a 9VAC power supply. The original power supply, part no. 1001038-02 failed years ago and was trashed.

I tested it with my own 1001038-02 and it works perfectly. It is externally identical to my USA made serno. V0007829 but it's PCB is IDENTICAL to that of a VIC-1001. It even has yellow QC stickers inside like those of the VIC-1001.

Its serno is 520144. This VIC is made for NTSC video standard.

I will send photos upon request. PM me.

This is the only VIC-20 I have ever seen with my own eyes that does not have a metal box around it's video chip. Browsing Jogi's website reveals that the VIC-1001 was also like that.

I have carefully cleaned the keyboard and internal rubber pads with alcohol. It works just like new.
