ROM IMAGES

Post by Devlin »

Hi,
I have a question.
How do I go about using ROM images.
Do I just download them from funet. Then put on floppy and load, then type in run.
I would like to download the Super Expander ROM Image.
I have a 3k,8k and 16k expansion that I can plug into my Vic 20.
Or is there a special sys to type in after loading from floppy?
Lastly do I need a special program to run ROM's on Vic?
Really need to know.
Thanks

You need to have a switchable ram cart, so you can put memory in the block where the cartridge would be located. For example super expander is in block 3. Most cartridge games are in block 5.

When you have memory in the correct position, to run most cartridge games, you do like this:

LOAD"FILE",8,1
SYS64802

The original 8K cart allready has switches inside, so you just need to open it up. I've made a hole in mine to be able to reach the switches:

Here is the ram cart instructions:

This is another interesting option. With a device like that, you just load the images into the VICs memory, switch your RAM to read-only and press the reset button, et voilà!

Starting price is 70$
