Read the command channel immediately after boot, it returns the firmware version.
Ah, okay! 0.6.6-1, which goes back to like 2008!

I might give this a shot!
I might come back to this another day. I go round and round with homebrew complaining about how node is installed and linked and I'm just not in the mood. I don't even know what VICE needs node for.
