4,000+ programs VIC-20 listings

Post by srowe »

Many of you are probably aware of Richard's collection of type-ins, http://www.vic20listings.freeolamail.com/index.html. It contains programs from books and magazines that were printed in the 1980's, the primary way those of us on a budget in that day got to try new games and utilities. He's now just exceeded the 4,000 count, a remarkable achievement.

If you have listings that are not currently in the collection please consider contributing them. If you have found it a welcome trip down memory lane please consider sending a donation for the upkeep of the site,

Regards
Simon

Is there a download link for this? Or still a work in progress?

Right, but downloading 4,000 individual PRGs is a little troublesome 8) If there was a bulk download link, I missed it.

I suppose one could "wget" the entire site and extract all the PRG's but hopefully there is a better way.

It's not quite that bad. As well as the individual files, for each book or magazine there are one or more .d64 file at the top of its page, so you can download a floppy's worth of files at a time.

it's very easy to browse, and full of those old school games and programs. Some are surprisingly well made (look for expanded RAM requirements), and they all have instructions. As said, most are collected in D64 images.
