german:

BASIC (like BASIC language) - this is called BASIC, its a name
CHARACTERS - Zeichen or Zeichensatz
SCREEN MAP - Bildschirmspeicher
MEMORY MAP - I'd not translate this. "Speicherbelegung" would be OK
SOUND - Geräusche perhaps. Depends on Context
LABELS - Sprungmarken
ASSEMBLY - I'd not translate this either ("Assembler"). Also "Assembly" and "Machine Language" aren't the same thing :) "Maschinensprache"
STORAGE - Massenspeicher (as in "Mass Storage")

others look ok

Italian:

BASIC (like BASIC language) - this is called BASIC, its a name

ASSEMBLY - I'd not translate this either ("Assembler"). Also "Assembly" and "Machine Language" aren't the same thing :) "machine language"="linguaggio macchina"

CONTROLLERS (like micro CONTROLLERs) is "CONTROLLORI"(singular:"CONTROLLORE"), it can be used for memory bank controllers but for CPU the right will be... "CPU" or "MICROPROCESSORE"/"PROCESSORE" (plural:"MICROPROCESSORI"/"PROCESSORI")
"Commodore vic20 use a 6502 as uP but it use a 6560/6561 audio/video chip as sistem controller"
"Commodore vic20 usa come processore un 6502 ma usa come controllore di sistema il circuito integrato audio/video 6560/6561"
[(circuito integrato): the term "chip" can also be used in Italian]

STORAGE it depends on the meaning of the sentence, in Italian there are several different translations with differences in meaning

ERRORS= "ERRORI" (singular ERROR="ERRORE") ,
["messaggio di errore"="ERROR MESSAGE"]

INDEX="INDICE"
INDICE ALFABETICO="ALPHABETICAL INDEX"

ask to Orion70 for better translation... :wink:

Thanks, everyone! :D This is very helpful. The context is a book table of contents... I should clarify.

This section is a list of BASIC commands. Might that change your answer?
MCes wrote: Sun Jan 22, 2023 4:46 am CONTROLLERS (like micro CONTROLLERs) is "CONTROLLORI"(singular:"CONTROLLORE"), it can be used for memory bank controllers but for CPU the right will be...
I mean Joystick, Paddles, Peripherals...

I mean disk drive, tape...

Also, would there by any other synonyms for Machine Language Monitor?

What would you call this is your respective languages...? I don't even know for sure what to call it in English. "Values"? "Value Chart"? (excuse the errors)

It's a bit hard to find a single word for it, since there is so much unrelated info put together in the table *shrug*

Usefullness aside, would "WERTDIAGRAMM" be acceptable to you?

A "Diagram" is usually something graphical... This is a table ("Tabelle"). If it would only include the characters, then "Zeichentabelle" would be fitting. But i really dont know how to properly describe this one, its an interesting mashup of information :)

Ah, good observation! This is a difficult one for me, but I really appreciate your help! "Wertetabelle"?

That would be technically correct ("Table of Values" - i guess every table that contains values qualifies as such)
