I lied. Well, sort of. I haven't had interference on the two LCD TVs I've been using as monitors, but I recently hooked up to a CRT TV, and there was a horizontal band of interference rolling slowly down the screen.

I can feel a chonky big transformer and a couple of power transistors in my future.

I had a similar issue with my VIC-20 and C-64. I ordered a new cable with stronger insulation, and the issue went away. The cable for the video (yellow connector) is very thick on the new one.

Probably better shielding rather than insulation, and that may well improve the signal quality. Sounds like an easy fix!

That's the word I was looking for at the time! Shielding!

Is there a cheap and effective way to shield video cables?

Well, I'd truly advise buying a better cable, but determining what is a better cable and what is just a rubbish expensive cable is a skill that I don't possess - other than to say gold plating is not evidence of quality.

Here's where I purchased mine for my VIC 20's and C64's that I have. I could tell the difference immediately from my regular composite cables I was using.
