Post by Barney »

I have 11 new Vic-20 games I bought recently from ALA Software. I have never seen these games available for download so I preserved and saved them to TAP files. Is there a place to upload them for preservation. On that note, does anybody know a location where more of these ALA titles may be available for download. Thank You

Yep thanks for this preservation job! Mayhem will tell if are they are really missing from the VIC digital collections, as he's the expert here :)

So, will you provide a link for us to download to download them? TIA

Thanks for those. Four of them are in GB20 right now, three are listed but no digital file, and four are completely new!

Will take a look myself later... Would it be possible to one-file them, or do a d64, in order to try them on real hardware?

yeah I checked the GB20 as well and noticed that the following were missing:

1. Midnight Museum - 8k
2. Muncher's Castle - 8k
3. Running Munchies - 8k
4. Black Widow - 8k
5. Dracula's Fang - 8k
6. Antimatter - Unexpanded (note: this game is different than Antimatter Splatter).

I was looking at Version .3. Is there a newer version released?

Also, if you need screen shots of the software boxes, let me know.

I guess this material should deserve a video from one of those Youtubers that follow the VIC20.

The Pictures of the ALA Software Boxes are attached. I have one more TAP file to add shortly called "Bumper Car".

Thanks for the box shots, I can add those too.

I've been working on the next version for 4-5 years, there is one coming, I hope, eventually. Basically becoming a father has taken up an awful lot of my spare time away from projects such as this. So my compare was against my latest up to date work in progress local version. If I had a week off from everything in life, I might be able to get everything ducks in a row fully complete heh.

I'd do that right now if they were PRG or D64 files (I'm currently recording a few things). I put up VIC-20 games on YouTube, but I only do ones from the real thing. I don't think I can use TAP files on my SD2IEC.

Yes you can if you have a C64SD Infinity or never, it uses both default sd2iec firmware or his custom firmware (sd2iec + XT IEC command that adds TAP support)

To mount TAP file just use this command:

Code: Select all

OPEN15,8,15,"XT:FILE.TAP":CLOSE 15
Then hit SHIFT+RUN/STOP, or LOAD+[RETURN], it works because is connected to both serial and cassette ports, the serial port is used just to receive the IEC command for TAP files.

An easy way to load and run tap files is by simply using my CBM-FileBrowser from v.1.6+, just select a TAP file like any other sd2iec supported file image.
Mega-Cart: the cartridge you plug in once and for all.

Hear hear, are you saying that I can actually mount and read TAP files with a standard SD2IEC device? I really didn't expect that
