Re: Sonic on the 64
Looks excellent, almost pixel perfect. It's for the REU expanded Commodore 64 only though. Not everyone's configuration AFAIK.
Re: Sonic on the 64
Yes, there doesn't appear to be a cheap modern replacement for the REU as far as I can tell.

Re: Sonic on the 64
Is it correct that 512kb "GEO RAM" and the likes (clones) are NOT usable as REUs?
Re: Sonic on the 64
I read in an interview with the Author that the DMA facilities of the REU assist in the scrolling implementation.
Re: Sonic on the 64
I believe not...
"The problem with building an REU is that Commodore put a custom DMA
controller chip in there; it's not just a stack of RAM sitting on the
expansion port like, for example, the GeoRAM."

I am wondering if something like KungFu flash could be made to emulate it...?
Re: Sonic on the 64
Finally got around to trying this on the MiSTer.
It really is impressive and it's difficult to believe you are playing a C64 game.

Re: Sonic on the 64
Uhh...where can I get this game?
Re: Sonic on the 64

Re: Sonic on the 64
Sorry for the stupid question!
Re: Sonic on the 64
No worries, the board seems a little dead lately anyways so good to have some activity
Re: Sonic on the 64
I liked it. Thanks!

Someone is trying to replace the original 1764 REU with additional features:beamrider wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 8:58 am I believe not...

An Italian user "retrofixer" is trying to release another low cost version derived from this version, some experiments on you tube.
